How Des Moines buyers get their puppy

Doberman life in Des Moines

With a short single coat and little undercoat, Dobermans feel the cold more than many large breeds. Most Doberman owners in cold-winter states use a fitted dog jacket for winter walks, keep outdoor time short in sub-freezing weather, and wipe paws after walks on salted roads. Winter storms can delay flights, so we watch the forecast closely and keep you updated before any travel day.

In a city setting, plan for daily structured walks, early socialization to traffic and crowds, and positive-reinforcement training. Check Des Moines's local rules on dog licensing and rabies vaccination, and make sure your lease or HOA allows Dobermans.
