Puppy Sales Agreement

Our standard terms, including the health guarantee, published in full so you can read them before reserving.

Last updated: 2026-10-15

This page summarizes the standard terms of our Puppy Sales Agreement. Each buyer receives the agreement in writing for the specific puppy, and the signed written agreement governs the sale.

1. Parties and puppy

The agreement is between Melvins Dobermans LLC ("Seller") and the buyer named in the agreement ("Buyer"), for the puppy identified by name and inventory ID.

2. Price and payment

The purchase price is the price stated in the written agreement. Any delivery cost is stated separately in writing. The balance is due before or at pickup or delivery as stated in the agreement. The Seller never requests payment through website forms.

3. Condition at sale

The Seller warrants that, to the best of the Seller's knowledge, the puppy is in good health at the time of pickup or delivery, has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, and has received age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming as recorded in the records provided. Puppies are at least 8 weeks old when they go home.

4. Buyer's veterinary exam

The Buyer agrees to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 7 days of receiving the puppy, and to send the Seller a copy of the exam report within 2 business days after the exam. If that exam finds a serious illness or a congenital condition that was present at sale, the Buyer may return the puppy (with the veterinarian's written report) for a replacement puppy of equal value or a refund of the purchase price, excluding delivery costs.

5. Health guarantee — congenital and hereditary conditions

If, within 2 years of the puppy's date of birth, a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a life-threatening congenital or hereditary condition, the Seller will provide a replacement puppy of equal value. Written veterinary documentation, including diagnostic results, is required. The Seller may request a second opinion from a veterinarian of the Seller's choosing at the Seller's expense.

6. Buyer responsibilities

  • Continue age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite prevention, and routine veterinary care
  • Feed an appropriate large-breed puppy diet and avoid over-exercise during growth
  • Notify the Seller promptly of any serious health concern

The guarantee may not apply if recommended vaccination and veterinary care is not followed.

7. What the guarantee does not cover

The guarantee does not cover temperament, adult size or weight, coat color or markings, trainability, injuries, illness caused by the environment or care after sale, parasites or minor conditions commonly treated by a veterinarian (such as coccidia, giardia, kennel cough, or umbilical hernias), or veterinary costs unless the written agreement says otherwise.

8. Rehoming

If the Buyer can no longer keep the dog at any time, the Buyer agrees to contact the Seller first so the Seller can help find a suitable home.

9. Governing law

Missouri law governs the agreement, except where the law of the Buyer's state provides additional consumer protections, which are not limited by this agreement.
