A short list of good questions will tell you more about a breeder than any website. Here is ours — and you are welcome to ask us every one.
About the puppy
- What is the puppy's date of birth, and when can it go home?
- What vaccinations and deworming has it had? Can I have copies?
- Has a veterinarian examined it? When?
- What have you noticed about its personality?
- Can you send recent photos?
About the parents
- What health testing have the sire and dam had (heart, hips, thyroid, vWD)? Can I see the results?
- How old are the parents, and what are their temperaments like?
- Is the litter registered? What is the litter registration number?
About the terms
- What exactly does the health guarantee cover, and for how long?
- How much is the deposit, and when is it refundable or transferable?
- What is the total cost, including delivery, in writing?
- What happens if I can no longer keep the dog?
About travel
- How will the puppy travel, and who travels with it?
- What paperwork travels with the puppy (health certificate, records)?
- What happens if weather delays travel?
